Privacy Policy
Last Updated: January 2025
This Privacy Policy describes how PageScreener ("we", "our", or "the app") handles information when you use our Safari extension and macOS application.
Summary: PageScreener does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. All processing happens locally on your device. We do not track you, and we do not have access to your screenshots or browsing activity.
1. Information We Do NOT Collect
PageScreener is designed with privacy as a core principle. We do not collect, store, or transmit:
- Personal Information: We do not collect any personal information such as your name, email address, or contact details.
- Browsing Data: We do not track which websites you visit or monitor your browsing activity.
- Screenshots: We do not have access to your screenshots. All screenshots are saved locally to your Downloads folder and never leave your device.
- Usage Analytics: We do not collect usage statistics, crash reports, or any analytics data.
- Device Information: We do not collect device identifiers, IP addresses, or any device-specific information.
- Location Data: We do not collect or access your location information.
2. How PageScreener Works
PageScreener operates entirely on your local device:
- Local Processing: All screenshot capture, scrolling, and image stitching happens locally on your Mac. No data is sent to external servers.
- No Network Requests: The extension does not make any network requests or connect to external services.
- Local Storage: Screenshots are saved directly to your Downloads folder using standard macOS file system APIs.
- Settings Storage: Your preferences (format, quality, overlap settings) are stored locally in Safari's extension storage and never leave your device.
3. Permissions and Access
PageScreener requires the following permissions to function:
3.1 Safari Extension Permissions
- activeTab: Required to capture screenshots of the current webpage. This permission is only used when you explicitly click the "Take Screenshot" button. We do not access tabs without your explicit action.
- tabs: Required to communicate with the active tab during screenshot capture. Used only during active capture sessions initiated by you.
- scripting: Required to inject scripts that scroll the page and hide fixed elements during capture. Scripts run only on pages where you initiate a capture and are removed after capture completes.
- storage: Used to store your preferences (format, quality, overlap settings) locally in Safari's extension storage. This data never leaves your device.
3.2 macOS App Permissions
- Downloads Folder Access: Required to save screenshots to your Downloads folder. This is the only folder the app accesses.
- Safari Extensions Management: Required to enable and manage the Safari extension.
All permissions are used solely for the core functionality of capturing and saving screenshots. We do not use these permissions for any other purpose.
4. Data Storage
PageScreener stores minimal data locally on your device:
- Extension Settings: Your capture preferences (format, quality, overlap, delay settings) are stored in Safari's local extension storage. This data never leaves your device.
- Screenshots: All screenshots are saved to your Downloads folder with timestamped filenames. You have full control over these files and can delete them at any time.
We do not maintain any servers or cloud storage. All data remains on your device.
5. Data Sharing and Disclosure
PageScreener does not share, sell, rent, or disclose any data to third parties because:
- We do not collect any data
- We do not maintain any servers or cloud services
- All processing happens locally on your device
Since no data is collected, there is no data to share, sell, or disclose. We do not transfer data to third parties, advertisers, analytics services, or any other entities.
6. Third-Party Services
PageScreener does not integrate with any third-party services, analytics platforms, advertising networks, or data collection services. The app operates completely independently.
7. Children's Privacy
PageScreener is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Since PageScreener does not collect any information from anyone, including children, this section is primarily for compliance purposes. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with information, please contact us immediately at the contact information provided below.
8. Data Security
Since PageScreener does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers, there is no risk of data breaches or unauthorized access to your information through our service.
All screenshots and settings are stored locally on your device, protected by macOS security features including App Sandbox and Hardened Runtime. You have full control over these files and can delete them at any time.
The extension uses Safari's built-in security mechanisms and does not have access to your browsing history, passwords, or other sensitive information beyond what is necessary for screenshot capture.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
